Peter Roby has led one of the most diverse, respected and impactful careers in collegiate sports — as a basketball player, coach, sports marketing executive, scholar and athletics director.
Roby recently completed his 11-year tenure as Northeastern University's Athletic Director, after serving as Head Coach of the Harvard University men's basketball program, vice president for US marketing at Reebok, and Director of Northeastern's Center for Sport in Society. Earlier in his career, before his six seasons as head basketball coach at Harvard, he was an assistant coach at Harvard, Stanford University, Dartmouth College, and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Leading Northeastern to new levels of success in athletic competition and in student-athlete academic performance, Roby's impact has also reached far beyond the Northeastern campus. Peter currently serves on the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, where together with other nationally-regarded thought leaders, he promotes reforms that support and strengthen the educational mission of college sports. He also plays a significant role in the NCAA Pathway Program, which is designed to help elevate senior-level professionals in athletics administration to athletic director positions. He recently completed his five-year appointment to the 10-member NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Committee, which is responsible for selecting and seeding the NCAA tournament field, and was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America by the Institute of International Sport.
Roby's mission-driven commitment to leadership development, equal opportunity, and maintaining the integrity of college sports are among the core values that he instills through his work at Pivot Management Partners. Peter's relationships within sports and intercollegiate athletics are extensive, benefiting clients in Pivot's collegiate sports practice and beyond.
Roby is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where he was co-captain of the basketball team and earned a bachelor's degree in government. He also holds a master's degree in leadership from Northeastern. Peter and his wife, Sandra, are the parents of three children, and live in Newton, Mass.
